“You have been criticizing yourself for years and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” ~Louise Hay
How many people read that and went, “Yep, sure have!” I know I’ve been there and done that without a doubt! You look at yourself in the mirror and wonder “if only”: “If only I didn’t have that extra baby weight…”, “If only I didn’t have that extra arm skin…”, “If only my butt were a little bit bigger…”. Those are a lot of “ifs”. Wouldn’t that be amazing if the solution was “If only I went to bed one night and woke up the next day, magically in the skin I desired.” Unfortunately that isn’t reality, but what is reality is accepting your body for what it has done for you and what it can still do for you! Once the mindset shifts from disapproval to approval, you’ll be amazed at just how much you’ve been missing out on!
I know, for years, the world has taught us to love our bodies, yet, the body mindset was all wrong! The world told us that to love our body, it had to be an unrealistic version of our body. Well guess what, loving your body is far from that! Sure, it’s great when the changes you make in your daily habits lead to some of those changes, but that’s not the ultimate victory. Trust me, I’m all about setting goals and working hard to achieve them, don’t get me wrong! However, I want to emphasize the importance of accepting and cherishing our bodies! The body is more than just something that looks a certain way on the outside, but rather one that we use to live and experience life to the fullest in! The human body is an incredible machine, and giving it what it needs is the basis of loving it! When you start to fuel it correctly (including the mental appreciation and approval along with proper nutrition and physical exertion challenges), the outside suddenly becomes something you are much happier with and the confidence in your own skin beings to finally shine though!!
In this new series on the blog, I’m going to bring to you a weekly newsletter with all of the goods to help you along your health and wellness journey as you learn to love your body: from motivational quotes, to new exercises to incorporate into your workout routines, to featured athlesiure styles, and recipes to try out! These little nuggets of information will have you feeling good from the inside out and ready to shine like you were born to do!!!
Motivational Quote for the Week
“Make yourself a priority!”
Let’s keep it simple for this first week! If you haven’t started making changes to a new and improved version of yourself, then it’s time to start. Remember this quote as you go through the next week. Carving time out of your day for YOU is so important, so your first goal is making yourself a priority by setting aside at least 15 minutes a day for you to incorporate some type of move session (walking, yoga, bicycling, etc).
Exercise of the Week
Now, you can establish any exercise plan that works for you, with the key being that you enjoy it! However, each week I’ll bring to you one of my favorite exercises that I’ve been utilizing so that you can incorporate it into yours if you’d like! This week’s exercise of the week is: Eagle Crunches
Featured Style of the Week
Another important concept to consider is feeling good in the clothes we wear while we are moving and challenging our bodies. As many of you know, I love my Savvi attire, as the whole mission behind the clothes is to empower women through clothing! When you throw on a piece of Savvi clothing, you suddenly forget about those “what ifs” and your confidence levels soar! So, each week I’ll showcase Savvi’s featured styles for the week! This week includes the eco-friendly line, that are intended to not only make a difference on us, but also with the Earth! The Eco Bra, Shortie, and Leggings are all made out of recycled water bottles (yep, isn’t that cool?!). If you want to check out more info on these environmentally engineered outfits, you can click here! (P.S Any first time orders can use “SHARE25” to save $25 off their order!!!)
Recipe of the Week
Nutrition plays such an important role in keeping our body running correctly! Remember, your body is like a Ferrari, and a Ferrari takes premium fuel to run at it’s optimal level. If you give the Ferrari the 87 gas, it’ll run, but not like it’ll run on 93. The same goes for our bodies. We can fuel it with lots of stuff, but unless we give it the good stuff (fruits, veggies, protein), it won’t run at peak performance. So, this weeks recipe is one of my favorites, as I’ve found this one and LOVE IT for the weekends in our household. We love eggs, bacon, and pancakes for weekend brunch. However, pancakes don’t work out too well when you’re trying to keep to a low carb diet. This Keto friendly pancake recipe is the best pancake recipe I’ve found so far! Fluffy pancakes that are healthy and taste good…WIN!! I also throw in Lily’s baking chips for a sugar free chocolate chip pancake version!
Kalette love this… and how bad do I need this right now! Miss you!
This sounds like an amazing series! Loving and appreciating our bodies is so important!
