Is there anything more exciting than walking into a smoothie bar and admiring the different concoctions on the menu board?! Whether you’re grabbing a smoothie for a sweet afternoon treat or for your morning breakfast on the go, there are so many options you can chose from. Of course the kicker is that those wonderfully delicious smoothies aren’t usually part of the diet or budget. So, I went ahead and created my DIY home smoothie bar to fix both of those problems!
Let’s start with the style
Here a few tips and tricks to consider when designing the style of your home smoothie bar. (I mean, let’s be honest, it has to be cute, right?!) I’m one that if items are going to be left on my kitchen counter, then they need to have good aesthetic appeal and be functional!
So, consider the space you are working with and determine if you can store things as is or if you will need additional storage devices. I kept mine accessible from the counter top, so I choose this stacking shelf from Kohls to provide height and stack the items necessary.
Other options could include this galvanized tray from Target or this super cute and affordable tiered wood tray from Michaels.

Add In Some Organization
Once you have decided how you want the overall look of the smoothie bar to be, then you need to gather your containers and get organized. You’ll want consistent looks for similar ingredients, but overall grab some containers with different designs and textures to add dimension.
All of my glass jars came from Dollar Tree. I grabbed some of the cute little candy jars to house my seeds and powders, the tall narrow jars to hold the chopped nuts, and the little mason jar for storing honey. I picked up the cute little tin at Kroger to house my cocoa powder, as I don’t plan to use as much of that as the other dry ingredients. Don’t live near a Dollar Tree or looking to purchase your supplies online, then check out Target for a similar look with the mini candy jars and these glass jars with lid. Don’t forget about the cute little honey jar, straw holder, and metal straws to finish off the necessities!

Sprinkle Some Decor
Spruce up your home smoothie bar with a few small pieces of decor. Add some greenery, metal, and/or wood to give it a little personality! I’m a bargain hunter and found a piece of framed sheet metal at the Dollar Tree and a cute little potted tree from Aldi (I just love the random aisle at Aldi!). I found a similar topiary from Walmart for ya (if you’re not lucky enough to have an Aldi close by). Pair it with this hilarious sign from Kohls, reminding everyone that Mom only works a half day on Monday’s at the smoothie bar….otherwise, it’s self serve! ha

Invest In A Blender
Alright, this one is where the sting comes in, because a good blender can cost a pretty penny. Let’s be honest though…no one enjoys a lumpy smoothie! So I recommend buying a good one now, knowing you’ll be happy with the results and it will last longer! We purchased the Nutribullet 1200 Watt Combo Blender, and it comes with 2 single serve to go cups and the traditional blender pitcher. At 1200 watts, this high powered blender can chop up ice, frozen fruit, and any nuts or seeds you throw in there. I particularly love the “extract” setting, which works by blending for a few seconds and then pausing to allow the contents to fall down before mixing again.
If you’re looking for a more compact blender with less settings, Nutribullet also has the PRO 900 Watt Nutrient Extractor Blender for about half the price as the 1200 combo version. I can’t speak directly to this particular model, but I am loving our Nutribullet so far, and the smaller version has amazing reviews, so I’m sure you can’t go wrong!
Grab The Goods!
Alright, now that we have the foundation laid, it’s time to get the goods!!! There are so many different mixtures you can create when it comes to smoothie making, so I have a few references for ya: a smoothie shopping list and the key to building your best smoothie graphic.
