Fall Family Bucket List

Posted on September 13, 2020September 13, 2020 by Kalette

The leaves are falling, the Fall flowers are blooming, sweaters are being worn, and the smell of pumpkin spice lattes are around every corner. Fall is one of the best times of the year, not only because of the sights and smells, but also because there is so many fun activities to do with your family! As Winnie the Pooh says, you won’t even realize you’re making memories, because you just know you’re having fun!

I’ve put together 15 fun family style activities that are sure to bring lots of smiles as you take advantage of all that this amazing season has to offer!

1. Go Camping in your backyard…Complete with a bonfire

There’s no better way to enjoy the crisp Autumn air than by pitching a tent and sleeping under the stars. Top it off with a bonfire to cook your dinner (pot of chili) and your dessert (s’mores), and you’ve got a recipe for lots of fun!

2. Go apple picking at a U-Pick Fruit Farm

Downing Fruit Farm – New Madison, OH

No apple tastes better than one you pick yourself! So head on over to your local fruit farm, walk the orchard, and bring home a bag of fresh finds. Even better, most fruit farms now host extras including u-pick pumpkins, hayrides, and corn mazes. So pack the car and head out to make incredible family memories. (Local friends…be sure to hit up Downing Fruit Farm in New Madison, OH. Pro Tip: Grab an apple cider slushie…the BEST around!)

3. Visit a Sunflower Farm

There is nothing more beautiful than a field of sunflowers in bloom! Find out when one in your area is in full bloom and grab some amazing photos of you and the family with the sunflowers as your backdrop!

4. Host a Soup Cook-Off Challenge

What’s the best dinner during Fall? Soup of course! Host a soup cook-off challenge with your family or better yet, set up a block party with your neighbors! Have everyone bring a crock-pot of soup and enjoy some yummy dinner and some great company!

5. Bake autumn Inspired Treats

I don’t know about you, but if any treat has the word “pumpkin” in it, I’m all in!!! There are so many yummy Fall inspired treats that you can make that will have you really capturing all the feels of the season! Stay tuned and I’ll share my favorite sweet treat soon!!

6. Carve Pumpkins

I mean is there any better way to spend time as a family during the Autumn season than by grabbing some pumpkins and carving funny or scary faces out of them?! This is a yearly must do activity with the kiddos!

7. Schedule a Family Photo Shoot

Need an updated family photo?! With the leaves changing and falling to the ground, Fall serves as the perfect backdrop to grab that perfect family picture!

8. Run a Virtual 5K

Fall usually brings a TON of themed 5K’s. However, 2020 has made many of those non-existent, but you can still check out lots of virtual 5K’s. You sign up and run the race on your own time, submit your results, and they mail you the goods (t-shirt, medal, etc). It would make a great fitness inspired activity for you and the family!

9. Make Homemade Candy Apples

After you bring those apples home from the orchard, you can grab some chocolate, nuts, sprinkles, etc and make yourself some delicious homemade candy apples!

10. Add a little Fall Flair to your Front Porch

Spruce up your front porch by adding a little Fall flair! Make it inviting for your guests or even better, make it a space for you to enjoy the cool air and a pumpkin spice latte!!

11. Get Lost in a Corn Maze

Corn mazes are a fun daytime activity for the entire family. Let the kids lead the way, as they navigate you through the puzzle!

12. Visit a Local Bakery for Fall Inspired Treats

Not only should you make your own treats this Fall, you should also hit up your local bakery for some of their yummy seasonal treats!!

13. DIY an Outdoor Fall Festival

Well, just like the 5K’s, many of the Fall festivals have been cancelled. However, with a little bit of creativity, you could DIY your own in the backyard, complete with a gourd ring toss, candy corn (bottles painted to look like candy corn) bowling, sack races, and of course fun prizes for the winners!

14. Take a Hike

Want to experience the beautiful scenery Fall brings, then go explore a local trail. Check out your county parks website, as they will most likely have a guide to all of their local trails.

15. Tailgate From Home

Can’t make it to a football game this year, then tailgate from home! Make all of those yummy finger foods and set up the action in the driveway with some friends! Besides, tailgating is just about enjoying each other’s company with some good eats!

I hope this season brings lots of fun, laughter, smiles, and memories as you partake in some of these Fall bucket list activities! I’d love to see your adventures, so don’t forget to tag me on social media (@kalettehittle)! Happy Fall Y’All!
